This is the industry highlight at the epicenter of WMC week.

Another unique aspect of the IDMAs is the convergence of industry legends and emerging talent alike. As part of its mission statement to serve as a platform for the advancement of the industry, the IDMAs place particular emphasis on innovative artists and industry. Having endured several well documented venue changes in 2011, the owners of Houghton Hall in Norfolk were so blown away by last year’s event they have thrown open their land and welcomed the festival back.

This year Glade will be a much bigger and better event, set to take place over four beautiful days in spectacular English countryside. With an incredible site and a stellar lineup, consisting of hundreds of DJs and live acts from around the globe, Glade 2012 is set to become the must-go-to festival for all lovers of underground electronic music.

As anyone who attended in 2011 will agree, this unique venue (which has not been used for any other music festival) is without a doubt the perfect new home for Glade. With a world-class line up of the most exciting names in electronic music alongside the award-winning Secret Productions team (promoter of the year in the 2011 Festival Awards) taking care of the production, Glade 2012 is back to show every other UK dance festival how it’s done.

Glade Stage
Featuring the best electronic talent around, the cross-genre Glade Stage is headlined by German techno-legend Sven Vath. Having enjoyed a hugely successful worldwide career spanning over 30 years, Sven is one of the founders of German techno and a driving force behind electronic dance music with his infamous Cocoon label, parties and nightclub. Famous for his marathon club-sets at Berlin’s notorious Dorian Grey to weekly parties in Ibiza to a non-stop global tour schedule, we are very pleased to welcome Sven to Glade.

Sven Vath said of performing: ‘I'm really looking forward to performing at this year's Glade Festival! I've heard a lot about this event, that it is a serious music lovers' festival with a great line up and most of all I'm looking forward to DJing in the great English countryside.’

Joint headlining is Drum & Bass hero Andy C who presents his jaw-dropping Alive stage show. Having spear-headed the scene since the early 90’s, Andy and his Ram Records label have been at the forefront of this UK dance explosion. His Alive show will see a unique audio / visual extravaganza closing the festival on Sunday. Joining these two prolific artists and rounding off our headliners is French techno don Vitalic, a man who has been decimating dance floors across the globe since the late 90s with his unique brand of electronic funk on labels such as International DJ Gigalo and PIAS.

Elsewhere on the line up we see a quality mixture of proper electronic music taking in the progressive from the sublime Robert Babicz, techno from German scene-leaders Marc Romboy and Extrawelt. Drum n Bass is represented by UK duo Drumsound and Bassline Smith whilst Rusko brings the Dubstep and Radio 1 DJ and Sheffield’s pin up Toddla T joins Don Letts for a dub, reggae and beyond set on Sunday.

The Glade Stage also represents live music with US sensation Pretty Lights performing alongside festival stalwarts The Dub Pistols and British hip-hop, grime and dubstep super group Foreign Beggars.

With plenty more talent performing and another exclusive headliner yet to be announced, expect nothing but the best, whatever the genre - all weekend.

Psychedelic Village
The Glade is proud to call itself the UK’s spiritual home of psychedelic culture and the Psychedelic Village is a celebration of this. With the mighty Origin Stage at the heart of this area playing host to Nano Records 10th Birthday Party and much more powered by glorious Funktion 1, this stage will be banging come rain or shine. This year we are more than chuffed to welcome back the Liquid Stage, which will run from dusk til dawn in our beautiful new forest area (more on that below…) and playing host to the cream of the UK scene. Providing respite from the onslaught of EDM no Glade would be complete without InSpiral who this year focus on chillout with a superb line up to make your journey complete.

This year we also welcome the team that built the incredible Ozora festival over the past seven years to join us. They will be helping with the décor and production throughout the Village and much more.

Elsewhere expect healing areas, a psychedelic cinema, World Shift, talks, art, food and so much more… Come and join us. This is going to be proper… it really is.

New Wooded Area!
That’s right… we’ve got a lovely wooded area for you to play in this year! The wooded area will play host to two stages; the Liquid Stage and our new open-air dance floor The Meteor that lies in a crater inside the forest. More on that to follow in future announcements! Elsewhere expect hot tubs, spas and many more treats.

Overkill Returns!
The Overkill Arena returns to play, bringing with it the brashest, loudest drum & bass, gabba, dubstep, hardcore, rave, experimental …and beyond. Last year this venue played host to some of the most exciting and just plain bonkers names in electronica and 2012 will be no different… keep your eyes and ears open for future announcements.

Beta
Our new talent stage plays host to some of the most exciting new talent in the land. We’re keeping this one under wraps at present but think outdoor, pyramid, DJ… more to come.

Bassment
This year Bassment is hosted by South West crews Rinse Out, Beatz & Bobz and London’s favourite bass-heavy warriors Chew The Fat. With a line up of quality drum and bass, dubstep, bass and beyond laid on by these three prolific promoters, this will be THE place to pull your bass face.

The Rabbit Hole
One of the highlights of 2011, The Rabbit Hole played host to chaos all weekend long. Imagine a backstage bar where anything goes, for those festivalgoers who ventured down the hole this arena was THE party within the party. Running until dawn every night and featuring live music and DJs with very special secret performances, this is the place where anything goes.

And There’s More...
Still not satisfied…? Well there’s a roller disco, spa, healing, a feast of food courts, art and not forgetting the burn! There are lots more nooks and crannies that will be confirmed soon, applications are still being accepted for performance and our Nano venues...

What a year 2011 was for Maya Jane Coles. Voted ‘Producer of the Year 2011′ by DJ Mag, named ‘Best Breakthrough DJ 2011′ by Mixmag, debuting at No. 9 on the Resident Advisor ’2011 DJ Poll’, scooping ‘Best Newcomer 2011′ at the Ibiza DJ Awards 2011, many magazine covers and the likes of Anja Schneider, Ellen Allien, Damon Alburn and Tricky all queuing up to offer their praise.

Well that was 2011 and this is most definitely 2012 where the bar is set to be raised once more for this rather unique 24-year old, British/Japanese producer; with Maya already scheduled to DJ in over 20 countries in the first 6 months alone, some interesting release projects to be announced, some huge remixes and of course – the big one, the release of Maya’s debut album.

For most people the mere mastery of music would be enough but not for Maya, her brain just wasn’t built to be constrained so in the future we may more of Maya talents from the world’s of fashion, photography and art but for now Maya is clear – MUSIC definitely comes first!

Each year the prize is dedicated to an individual whose personal vision and energy has propelled the entire festival industry forward in a dynamic, creative and positive way.

Michael Eavis is to be given the Lifetime Achievement Award because of his seminal role in the European festival industry. Glastonbury and its success have inspired thousands of festivals to be launched, and Michael’s own personal philosophy of philanthropy has been adopted by countless promoters.

Commenting on his award Michael said: “After 41 years, to win something of this magnitude is something to be incredibly proud of. To still be doing this after that amount of time is no mean feat.”

Michael will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Festival Awards Europe ceremony on Wednesday 11th January in Groningen, The Netherlands.

Speaking about the honour, James Drury Managing Director of Festival Awards said: “Since founding one of the most famous and long-lasting festivals in the world, Michael has dedicated his life to Glastonbury and the millions of festival-goers which have attended the event over its 41-year history. Glastonbury is the grandfather of the incredible festival market which Europe enjoys, and Michael is cited as an inspiration by almost every festival organiser I speak to across the world. This is why he is so deserving of this honour.”



Michael launched Glastonbury festival in 1970, after being inspired by the very first such gatherings such as the Isle of Wight Festival. After 11 years the event finally made a profit and Michael looked for good causes to support in the UK and around the world. Nowadays he aims to raise £2 million per year to make the quality of life better than it is, at present, for millions of people.

To celebrate the launch of their new techno label Engineroom, Detroit Grand Pubahs launched a competition in October, in conjunction with Juno, to remix their classic track ‘Sandwiches’.

They gave Juno customers exclusive access to the original remix parts of 'Sandwiches', and budding producers had the opportunity to remix their own new version and be in with a chance of winning £1000 in prizes. With no style remit to limit them, entrants had the chance to put their own take on some classic Pubahs.

Part of the prize was for the winning remix to be released on Engineroom, including a limited edition 10" clear vinyl format. After a great response and hundreds of mixes to go through, Detroit Grand Pubahs can now announce the winner - Lucid Excuses.

Delivering by far the best remix, Toronto’s Lucid Excuses delivered this killer dubstep reworking.

"The Lucid Excuses mix really stood out. Although we never specified a genre of music for the competition, we didn't expect a dubstep mix. The label is not going to be releasing dubstep normally, but we were impressed enough to make an exception. And it was simply the best remix, which is what the competition was about. HIV: The basics
What is HIV?
HIV is a virus that attacks the body's immune system - the body's defence against diseases.

Are HIV and AIDS the same?
No. When someone is described as living with HIV, they have the HIV virus in their body. A person is considered to have developed AIDS when the immune system is so weak it can no longer fight off a range of diseases with which it would normally cope.

How is HIV passed on?
HIV can be passed on through infected blood, semen, vaginal fluids or breast milk.

The most common ways HIV is passed on are:
- Sex without a condom with someone living with HIV
- Sharing infected needles, syringes or other injecting drug equipment
- From an HIV-positive mother (to her child) during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding (but with effective treatment and care the risk of transmission can be greatly reduced)

I don't know anyone with HIV... do I?
Today there are more people than ever before living with HIV in the UK, but less people report knowing someone with HIV. People with HIV generally look healthy and many do not find it easy to tell other people, so you may not realise if someone you know if HIV positive. To learn more about the different groups of people affected by HIV view the statistics.

Is there a cure for HIV?
No, but treatment can keep the virus under control and the immune system healthy. People on HIV treatment can live a healthy, active life, although they may experience side effects from the treatment. If HIV is diagnosed late, treatment may be less effective.

How can I protect myself and others from HIV infection?
Always use a condom when having vaginal or anal sex. You also may want to use a condom or dental dam during oral sex although the risk of transmission of HIV is much lower. You can get free condoms from a sexual health clinic, which you can locate at via the FPA website. Never share needles, syringes or any other injecting equipment.

Did you know?
- Over a quarter of people with HIV in the UK don’t know they are infected.
- One in 20 gay men in the UK is living with HIV.
- For someone diagnosed today at 35, the average age of diagnosis in the UK, life expectancy is over 72.
- The most common treatment today for someone diagnosed with HIV early is one pill, once or twice a day.
- Lots of people with HIV work and their HIV does not affect their working life.
- With the right medical help, the vast majority (approximately 99 per cent) of HIV positive women can give birth to healthy uninfected babies.
- There is no known case of HIV ever being transmitted at school yet some schools in the UK still refuse to accept children with HIV.
- HIV affects all ages. One in six people living with HIV in the UK are over 50. Last year one in ten people diagnosed were aged 16 to 24.

As part of a special video-cast, Markus Schulz – one of the 10 biggest DJs in the world - yesterday announced that it would be the sprawling electronic dancetropolis of Los Angeles that’s been selected for his 2012 city compilation! Speculation had been mounting on forums over the last week that the honours could well fall the city’s way, with it becoming the odds-on favourite among Schulz watchers in the final hours before the broadcast. And that was indeed the way the compass spun! As the video’s countdown reached zero (with the broadcast's hosts uStream at near meltdown!), it revealed the iconic cityscape of the album’s cover and confirmation that the series would return to North America next year.

In unveiling LA as the city of choice, Markus said “electronic dance music has blown up huge in the United States this past year. One of the main reasons driving that is the scene in Los Angeles, where a new generation of clubbers are uniting with long-term fans and creating one of the most passionate scenes anywhere on the globe. I’ve played there many times in my career, at the Monster Massive festivals, the Electric Daisy Carnivals and for the last 3 years New Years Eves at Together As One, and they’ve all been so memorable in their own way.”

To mark the release of Markus’ city-celebrating Los Angeles 2012 mix-comp, Schulz will be playing not one, but two incredible gigs on consecutive nights at a legendary LA dance spot. Markus continues: “one of the clubs heavily featured in my Do You Dream DVD is Avalon. The fans there have always been amazing and as a result of the vibe and the response of the Avalon crowd I ended up playing over six hours, past 7am in the morning! It’s these types of environments where I really test my DJ sets and skills”.

So on Presidents Day weekend in the States, it’ll be the West Hollywood club that will play host to two very special parties to celebrate the release of Los Angeles ’12. Saturday February 18th will be a 21+ event with Sunday the 19th being a 18s and over show. “It’s going to be an extended set from me alongside some very special guests and it’ll be the first time in my career that I’ve done two back-to-back shows in LA”, says Markus. “So get your plane tickets, booked, your hotel rooms reserved and your plans made – it’s going to be an incredible weekend!”

From here, over the next six weeks, Markus will be making his final preparations to musically decode the City of Angeles. The album promises to be two discs of the most upfront, cutting-edge, tip-of-the-spear electronic dance music out there, personifying exactly how LA clubs it!

On November 23rd 1991 at 9pm Ralph Lawson put the needle down on a record by Marshall Jefferson presents The Truth called "Open Your Eyes". It was the first record ever to be played at Leeds institution Back To Basics and marked the start of his impressive double decade residency at the club, which is possibly the longest in the world.

Ralph Lawson is preparing to celebrate this colossal 20 year anniversary with the launch of his new blog on November 23rd 2011 followed by two big shows in Leeds and London. (Back To Basics November 26th, Village Underground December 17th) The Blog will feature a series of exclusive DJ mixes capturing the music from the club over the years as well as a written history, video clips, photos and interactive pages to allow people to contribute to the project.

Back To Basics attendances doubled weekly from the original 80 people that attended the first night until 2000 people were clambering to get in at the original Music Factory venue, blocking the whole street. The club has won Best Club five times at major music awards. Ralph has been the resident DJ but was also heavily involved in the bookings and musical direction early on. Back To Basics impressively pulled off the first ever gigs in the UK for Daft Punk, Danny Tenaglia, Derrick Carter, Josh Wink & Chez Damier. Many other luminaries have graced the decks over the years including MAW, FK, Laurent Garnier, Basement Jaxx, CVS, Sasha, Carl Cox, well, just about everyone worth their salt!

Lawson is also known for his 2020Vision label and live project 2020Soundsystem but it is his time at B2B that has really made the man. Basics was one of the first clubs to be granted a late license until 6am in 1994 and the guests would normally only play for two hours so RL would end up playing both warm up and closing set for a total of 5-6 hours each week. Visits to the states to The Sound Factory and Twilo to see Junior Vasquez and Danny Tenaglia play mammoth 12 hour sessions instilled in Lawson a way of playing House Music all night long that was missing in the UK. His technical skills were honed through long sets and practice until he became widely respected as one of the best mixers in the UK, if not the world. He also learnt how to work and break new records to generate mad electricity on the dance floor. An art lost on many of today’s DJs used to their 90min sets.

Lawson lived at Hopefield farm for much of the 90s, which became the base for 2020Vision Records and housed the studio. It also served as home to the notorious after parties from the club, which saw the Basics crew drag the poor unsuspecting guest DJs back to party for days on end. They would be made to stay and record tracks for 2020 in the studio after the party had finally ended. A symbiotic relationship for both club and label.

Between his label, productions and DJ sets, Ralph Lawson has played a huge role in the history of House Music. He is widely respected as being a major force in the shaping of the Leeds electronic music scene, he helped start and spread round the world. Now, through the blog a new generation will be able to listen to the sounds and stories of the crazy ride that Back To Basics has been over the last twenty years. It’s a story that deserves to be told, listened and also added to. Lawson hopes that the launch of the blog will allow a wide range of people to re-live and add their own memories until a definitive work has been assembled. The blog will launch with The Music Factory years 1991-1994 and subsequent episodes will follow regularly alongside daily updates, tour news and future plans for art and film pages.

The third edition of the awards looks set to be bigger and better with a 15% increase in the number of festivals taking part and entries from 32 different countries. This is further strong growth considering it is only Year 3 and reinforces the ever-growing strength and diversity of the pan-European music festival marketplace.

The winners of the 2012 European Border Breakers Awards, celebrating the top new talents in European pop music, were announced today by Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth and the European music conference and showcase festival Eurosonic Noorderslag.

To be eligible for the awards, the artists must have enjoyed border-breaking success with their first international release in Europe between 1 August 2010 and 31 July 2011. The winners are selected by music market analyst Nielsen Music Control on the basis of record sales and broadcast frequency and according to votes by European Broadcasting Union (EBU) radio stations and festivals participating in the European Talent Exchange Program (ETEP).



Background
The winners will receive their awards in a televised ceremony hosted by TV personality and musician Jools Holland at Eurosonic Noorderslag in Groningen, Netherlands, on 11 January 2012. The ceremony – including performances by most of the winning acts – will be broadcast by Dutch National Television (NOS/NTR) and will also receive European coverage through TV channels and radio stations.

One of the winners will also receive a 'Public Choice Award'. From 1 November until December 31 the public can vote for their favourite artist on EBBA Awards. By voting, they could win a trip to the award ceremony.

Former winners of the 'EBBA Awards include Adele, The Baseballs, Carla Bruni, KT Tunstall, Tokio Hotel, The Ting Tings, Lykke Li, The Scripts, Milow, Katie Melua, Mumford and Sons and Caro Emerald.

Now in their ninth year, the awards are funded by the EU Culture Programme and organized by Eurosonic Noorderslag, in partnership with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). The awards are supported by Buma Cultuur, SNN, Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, Province of Groningen, City of Groningen and European Music Office.

Eurosonic Noorderslag is Europe’s most important music conference and showcase festival, aiming to encourage circulation of European music. Eurosonic Noorderslag also is the organization of the European Talent Exchange Program (ETEP). The ETEP boosts circulation of talented European artists among a network of European summer festivals. It creates opportunities for professionals in the European music business and ultimately contributes to the development of the European music industry.

The European music industry makes an important contribution to growth and jobs, accounting for a significant part of our cultural and creative industries, which provide quality jobs for 8.5 million people in the EU and contribute 4.5 percent to Europe's GDP. The total value of the EU recorded music market is around 6 EUR billion a year. Renowned and new artists will be on the program of the second edition of the DJ Festival of MICS. In MICS CLUB, the ephemeral club specially created for this occasion, Sak Noel and his number 1 hit “Loca People” shares the party of the 9th November with Steve Aoki, producer and founder of the highly respected label DIM MAK RECORDS. Ferry Corsten started his Full On Ferry concept in 2007 at the Ahoy Complex in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, with three consecutive 15.000 capacity sell outs. Both the audience and the critics loved it and ongoing requests led to Full On Ferry going global. Full on Ferry: Ibiza was born with Ferry hosting a weekly show at Sankeys, Ibiza, inviting world famous artists such as Cosmic Gate, Marco V, Lange and Solarstone in the summer of 2011. Ferry’s UK career got kick started with his Ministry of Sound’s Trance Nation album reaching platinum status in 2000. This summer Ferry appeared as very special guest in the DJ Magazine arena at South West Four.

This year Ferry Corsten celebrates his twentieth anniversary as a producer. After releasing his first track Spirit of Adventure in 1991 he was elected Producer of the Year at the prestigious Ericsson Muzik Awards and he received a Dutch Silver Harp. In the mean time Ferry Corsten produced several albums and he is now working on a new album with top artists, to be released at the beginning of next year on his label Flashover Recordings. The single Brute, which he made in collaboration with Armin van Buuren, is currently on radio stations around the world and fills the dance floors.

The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) has just released the first selection of confirmed artists that are scheduled for the upcoming edition. The sixteenth edition of the ADE, which takes place from 19 to 22 October, promises to be the biggest to date with a varied and extensive international programming in a record breaking 52 venues around Amsterdam.

In the past sixteen years the ADE has become the most important showcase festival and conference for electronic music in the world. For the upcoming edition the organization expects more than 130,000 visitors, of which 25,000 are from all across Europe.

In 2011 the ADE works with a record number of 52 venues around Amsterdam, including Paradiso, Melkweg, Escape, Panama, Air, Chicago Social Club, Heineken Music Hall, Jimmy Woo, Ocean Diva, Studio 80, Passenger Terminal Amsterdam, Supperclub, Trouw and Westerunie. Amongst the locations there are also many first-time locations as Bloc23, bus Museum, Gazz, Havana, House of Rising muzyQ, Minibar, Pand 14, Rust and The Sun.

Grammy Award-winning Italian producer and DJ Benny Benassi recently released his third full-length album Electroman. Embracing a myriad of styles including electro, house, pop, R&B and hip-hop, Benny cast T-Pain, Pitbull, Chris Brown, Kelis, Gary Go, apl.de.ap of The Black Eyed Peas, Ying Yang Twins and more as the players in his very own electronic space opera.

"Cinema," featuring U.K. singer Gary Go, is a pop electro gem, remixed into a killer dancefloor track by none other than Skrillex. Benny Benassi became a worldwide phenomenon in electronic music with his 2002 electro-soul single "Satisfaction," which is still spun in nightclubs nearly a decade after its release. In 2007, Benny left his stamp on the Public Enemy classic "Bring the Noise," which eventually won him a Grammy for Best Remixed Recording (Dance) a year later.

Marc Romboy will be playing three exclusive European shows to showcase Smithson Martin's Emulator. This revolutionary piece of technology for DJs and producers melds midi-based software with touch-screen hardware with stunning results. He is the first DJ ever to perform with the latest Emulator software, and these dates are the first opportunity to catch him in action. To give a hint of what's to be expected, you can check this amazing video trailer, below.

The tour begins in London with a date at Ministry of Sound on 13th August. Second stop is Bloom Club in Wuppertal, Germany on 19/08 and he finishes up at Studio 80 in Amsterdam on 26/08. The final stop includes an Emulator workshop run by Romboy himself, which will give professionals and aspiring artists a chance to try the kit and learn from a true expert.

Emulator is 'the world's first and only fully customizable, multi-touch software for professional DJs and music producers.' Creators Smithson Martin are a software development company with a focus on DJ technology, and this is their flagship development. The company was founded by two veteran DJs, Alan Smithson (Canada) and Pablo Martin (Argentina) who share a passion for music, DJing and technology.

During the shows Romboy will be using the state-of-the-art DJ tool dual view multi-touch system. This large-scale interface, also available from Smithson Martin, shows just what is possible when Emulator becomes part of the performance. The DJ becomes part of the light show as the crowd witnesses their every move, giving the performer a new and exciting way to communicate with the audience.

Systematic label head and DJ/producer Marc Romboy was a natural choice for raising the profile of the software. He loves 'to DJ all over the world because he likes the way everybody understands and lives the same, universal language of techno and house music.' A true internationalist, he regularly appears at clubs including The Rex in Paris, Fabric and Ministry Of Sound in London and Berghain in Berlin. Known as an artist who constantly seeks to change and evolve his style, the opportunity to experiment with new technology and new ways to perform was too good for him to pass up.

And one weekend in September, festivalgoers get all this packed into one event: all facets of a metropolis under the banner of Berlin Festival 2011, spread out to over 60 clubs, Club Xberg @Arena Berlin and Tempelhof Airport.

First of all, they have another ace up their sleeve, which will make hip hop fans and indie nerds alike jump for joy: besides Beginner, Primal Scream, Suede, and Beirut performing at Tempelhof, they now have Public Enemy, the legendary East Coast rappers Chuck D, Flavor Flav and Professor Griff, taking over Club Xberg with their massive hip hop tunes. Daniel Wang and Discodromo are also confirmed to DJ at Arena Berlin’s Glashaus (Club Xberg) besides the already confirmed Andy Butler (Hercules & Love Affair) as well as Boy George & Marc Vedo. DJ Feadz rings in the final hours at Club Xberg. So the line-up is almost complete.

Like last year, their acts will perform in hangars 4 and 5 in addition to the main stage. This year though, the huge doors of the former aeroplane hangars will be entirely opened so that the hangars maximum capacity can be used. Additional barriers in front of the hangars due to capacity restrictions (the hangar doors couldn’t be opened entirely in 2010 due to sound pollution laws) won’t be necessary this year. Berlin Festival at Tempelhof will end at midnight but the festival programme will continue with Club Xberg at Arena Berlin. Tickets for Club Xberg are included in the Berlin Music Week Ticket. Single tickets are also available.

Imagine Berlin without its overwhelming club scene. It’s almost impossible. And our festival would hardly do the city justice without incorporating the metropolis’ debaucherous nightlife. The festival will also feature over 100 acts showcasing the best local and regional artists alongside top international acts. And what better location to experience it than Burgas city beach, with stunning views of the Black Sea coastline, stretching over 20km.

Suicidal Tendencies bring their unique blend of hardcore crossover thrash-metal to the Main Stage on Friday 12th August. Established in Venice, California, at the beginning of the 80’s, the group is one of the first heavy metal bands, which has managed to go on air at MTV. To date, current members of the band are: Mike Muir – vocals and founder of the group, Mike Clark – guitar, Eric Moore – drums, Dean Pleasants – guitar, Steve Brunner – bass player. During the intervals between touring the group manages to steal time and go to the studio to record track after track for their brand new album, which the musicians claim will be a mixture between their old trash sound and a new sound. The promo of the album will be in 2012.

On Sunday 14th August festival goers will be treated to one of the worlds biggest names in electronic music, Leftfield. Having saved the authentic spirit of the fundamental Leftfield, Neil Barnes revived Leftfield in the summer of 2010 and meets with great enthusiasm every new live encounter with the audience. Joining him on the main stage will be Adam Wren (keyboards) and Sebastian Beresford (drums), with original vocalists Djum Djum, Earl 16 and Cheshire Cat. Having started at the end of the 80’s the project distinguished itself with the innovative intelligent approach towards the creation of dance music. Their specific sound is due to the skilful mixing of house music with reggae and dub, as well as the use of live vocals into the tracks with Leftism still recognised as one of the 10 key albums from the 90’s.

Also on Sunday will be the British band Skindred, who’ sound is a skilful combination of punk, rock, metal, reggae and electronic music. The front man of the band – Elvis Benji Webbe, today is considered to be a real music icon. Behind him undoubtedly stand the other members of the band – the bass player Dan Pugsley, the guitar player Mikey Demus and the drums player Arya Goggin. Skindred also picked up ‘Devotion Award’ at this years Kerrang! Awards.

SPIRIT Dance Nights:
After midnight the Main Stage of SPIRIT of Burgas turns into a dance arena, showcasing DJs and MCs from different music styles. The dance nights begin when the euphoria from the concerts is at its peak, when the moon looks in its full beauty in the sea water, and the sand at central beach of Burgas has become red hot from the thousands of people dancing!

Friday August 12th has been reserved for the label True Badness. One of the best in the line-up will be the dubstep legend DJ Benga. The Bulgarian public will have the first unique opportunity to meet the dubstep guru live and direct with MC Youngman. Benga is a true legislature in his genre, a personality behind the music-stand. Also performing will be the Romanian miracle Bong, Tommy Gun, World Premiere and Tekniq.

Saturday August 13th is devoted to the titans in the drum-and-bass culture in Bulgaria – the label H.M.S.U., which has turned its participation in the festival into an annual tradition. Artists performing include Shy FX and Stamina MC and the HMSU Crew - Mocks, Ogonek, EXo, Konspirator.

The finale on Sunday August 14th, will begin with a cherished cult hip-hop formation - Scratch Perverts. In fact they are much more than simply hip-hop. They are DJs with a long history and numerous awards from DMC championships. They are capable of taking any music piece from any music style and transforming it in an incredible way into a hip-hop rhythm. Scratch Perverts will be supported by the famous Bulgarian hip-hop label ILLMATE with performances from Fars, Wosh, Logo5, DJ Darkstep, Diwaddloe, DJ Bashment, The Top Stoppers, Jamez Bongg and Soulization.

Taking place from 7th to 10th July with 4 days of hot Serbian sunshine reaching temperatures of 30 degrees and endless blue skies, EXIT was the perfect festival holiday destination. By day - spending time leisurely cafe hopping in the picturesque city of Novi Sad, or splashing around in the River Danube on the beach at the EXIT Village to keep cool. And by night - over 45,000 people partied at the festival to see headline artists such as; Arcade Fire, Pulp. Editors, M.I.A, Santigold, Portishead and Grinderman. Klopsztanga Project:
Klopsztanga (from the German Klopfstange) is a word used in the Silesian dialect to describe a pipe frame on which carpets are hung for beating. Klopsztangi primarily served as gathering places that encouraged children’s imaginations to grow, helping them set off on trips much more interesting and distant than the ones offered by today’s travel agencies. The OFF Festival Katowice and Medusa Industry have decided to bring the klopsztanga back to the Silesian landscape. Join us on our mission!

Saturday mornings don’t sound like they used to. A hollow, rhythmic thump once announced the start of the weekend. The dull, monotonous, and slightly muted smacking sound would echo off of buildings. The strong beat would occasionally slow down and weaken, only to pick up once again. Four pipes welded together in the shape of the letter “H” with a bar across the top, slightly wider than the vertical poles. A simple, ubiquitous object; a primitive element of everyday life.

At first glance, the klopsztanga is a plain steel contraption: a black, brown, or rusty, anachronistic object. The klopsztanga and the trashcan formed an inseparable pair. A utilitarian form: the klopsztanga, courtyard gate, playground, a place in which to gather and talk. Crossed legs, somersaults, hanging upside down, skipping rope, and eating sunflower seeds. The original Silesian public space.

A space that has now been forgotten. Pushed aside by the vacuum cleaner and the plastic playground, the klopsztanga stands on the side and observes our modern world. It is rarely used; someone will occasionally sit on it, but Saturday mornings just don’t sound the same without it. It has become a symbol. A barely recognizable and deprecated symbol. The German-sounding name can sound abrasive to politically-correct ears. Is it Polish or German?

The klopsztanga remains a characteristic part of the Silesian landscape. The Klopsztanga Project is an attempt to bring back the word as well as the space associated with it. It aims to revive a temporarily forgotten phenomenon. Its goal is to enliven, inspire, and shape our space. A real space. Not a social media.

Mural in Katowice 2011:
The piece is meant to resemble a shadow, something elusive. The afternoon glare in the windows forms an illusion that may seem like an entirely different dimension of reality when viewed from passing trains. The mural depicts an acrobat balancing on a tightrope. A crowd gathered below gazes up at the character. He evokes a range of emotions in the bystanders: some look surprise, others seem interested and full of awe, while others appear disgusted and terrified. One of the people in the crowd, a little girl mimicking the acrobat’s movements on the tightrope, reminds us just how difficult his feat is. It is surprising yet at once provocative and funny.

Literary Stage:
Poets and performers from the legendary “They Pissed In My Insides” group have become classics of the avant-garde, thus they need their own separate celebration – the first day of OFF’s Literary Stage will be devoted to the alternative artists from Gdansk. Pawel “Konjo” Konnak (the chief guerrilla of parapoetic improvisation, celebrity award show host, and the only Nike Literary Award nominee to dance on the ice on television) will talk about Totart, while Krzysztof Skiba and Jaroslaw Janiszewski, frontmen of the legendary bands Big Cyc and Bielizna, respectively, will talk about the formative years of the Tricity punk rock scene and the maniacal activities of anarchists in the Communist system’s twilight years. Pawel “Paulus” Mazur and Dariusz “Brzóska” Brzóskiewicz will appear with their own literary-slash-musical show. The epigrams and haikus written by the duo can be considered classic examples of Totart lyrics, right next to the legendary “Cunt Flows” by Zbigniew Sajnóg. The latter was also a co-author of “The Peasants III,” a novel that was decidedly more perky, from a linguistic perspective, than Reymont’s Nobel Prize-winning original. Fragments of the novel, as well as samples of his new lyrics written in prose, will be performed a capella by Ryszard Tymon Tymáski.

On the second day, the literary stage will complement the “forever young veterans of the scene” theme set by Johnny Rotten and his crew. Bohdan Zadura, laureate of the 2011 Silesius Award (Poland’s most prestigious poetry award; what’s important, the jury didn’t bestow a lifetime achievement award upon him, but decided that his “Night Life” was Book of the Year for 2010), editor-in-chief of “Twórczo,” and mentor of subsequent generations of literary rebels, will read his new poems. Also on stage, reading parts of his new work, will be the author of the most notorious literary debut of recent history, the Greatest Silesian of All Time, living legend of Polish cinema, author of priceless virulent commentary on political folklore, and a deputy to the Polish Sejm (lower house of parliament), Kazimierz Kutz. Janusz Rudnicki will also appear with his show on the second day. Rudnicki is a prime example of literary ADHD, he’s the only author with a free pass to the stage at every festival where I’m one of the curators, a demolition man, filled with mean jokes and the biting intelligence evident in his short prose pieces. We’re hoping that Tadeusz Dábrowski, a recent convert to metaphysical lyricism and laureate of the Kocielski Award, will remind us of his love for poetic anecdotes and slapstick. But let me tell you, this is the only poet who could convince me that God exists. Wojciech Brzoska and his band will close the second day. Brzoska, the only representative of the local literary scene to grace the stage, is one of the most interesting Silesians from the 70s Generation and an author unafraid of writing understandable poetry.

Sunday will start off with an appearance from the only author who doesn’t write in Polish, our man in Vienna, Radek Knapp. His book “Lekcje pana Kuki,” filled with sophisticated humor and juicy phrases, immensely popular in the German-speaking world, was turned into a movie (with questionable success), directed by Dariusz Gajewski and released in 2008. Zbigniew Masternak, the best soccer player among writers, the lightning fast sniper of Puawiak Puawy FC, will talk about how Andrzej Baraski adapted his novel “Ksistwo” for the big screen. The brightest star on the Sunday stage will surely be Micha Witkowski, author of “Lubiewo,” another master of over-the-top phrase and unquestioned champion of Polish gay literature. The day will be closed by two energetic shows by my favorite guys, excellent poets and fantastic musicians associated with the yass movement: Szczepan Kopyt and Filip Zawada. Arriving at Katowice/Pyrzowice airport - take the bus marked "Lotnisko" to the Katowice train station (Dworzec PKP) and then transfer to one of the below lines.

So, there we have it. But there is one important thing to note here and it’s that KaZantip is not only about the acts that play at the event. Though music and dance are treated with honour in the Republic, they are not the only kind of art. Kazantip aims to achieve world supremacy through peaceful means by bringing together the brightest and most creative and interesting people from all over the world.

So what is the Kazantip Republic? Well, the first thing the KaZantip president will tell you is that it's NOT a festival. It is often described as a non-existent state somewhere under the sun, which may remind onlookers of a festival. It exists in a parallel reality according to it’s own PreZident's ideas: "summer all year round" and "life with no pants". It lives by its own constitution; it has its own great nation, small president and lovable government, responsible for the most important things in the state, such as sound and light, love and good humour, virtual deeds and illusions. There is also a visa regime, a bureau of customs, national traditions and the official religion - belief in the reality of miracles.

The sun is shining, the sea is swinging, the music is singing on every side and the wind is always blowing strong enough for the Republic's national sport of Kitesurfing. This small land of the rising fun is home to adventurous, bronzed fun-seekers unwilling to wave goodbye to their childhood. With over 4 weeks of electronic music, stunning art projects, kitesurfing, film projects and parties by the sea, it's likely to be something that you have never experienced before. It is a space where people can totally express themselves: DJs, musicians, producers, film makers, designers, performers, freaks, beautiful dancing girls and toned kitesurfing boys.

Popovka is a five-street hamlet, a five-minute walk away from the Kazantip - it will be no trouble to get back home from the beach in any condition and anytime. Almost every house offers rooms for hire; the prices vary from $15 to $150.

Mirniy is a small, block of flats town within 20 minutes of Kazantip, where you can rent a multiple room apartment for your whole family or friend group. Walkable distance from Kazantip or you can take a taxi for $10-20.

Kosa is a sand embankment between Popovka and Mirniy separating the sea from the Donuzlav lake, about 15 minutes drive from Kazantip area. There are lots of comfortable villas and hotels but harder to reach by public transport / taxis so you would need to hire a car.

Festival goers are issued a special visa similar to a credit card with a barcode, which allows access in and out of Kazantip Republic.

There are two types of Republican Visa:
1. Plastic multiple entry visa, granted for a month-long period, allows multiple entries into the Republic. Multiple entry visa will cost you about 100 EUR.

2. Single entry visa, or transit visa, or tourist visa, valid for one and only visit and cancelled as soon as the visitor leaves the territory of the Republic. Single entry visa is available for 50 EUR each.

From pop to hip hop to dubstep, from psychedelic to tech house to indie, from noise to post-punk to avant-garde, the festival is truly a mash-up of grand proportions. All their new confirmations also break the rules.

With Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All they have one of the most exciting alternative hip hop acts of the decade playing the festival. The Californian artistic collective led by Tyler, The Creator will draw everyone in with their rough rhymes. The grandmaster of French electro Mr. Oizo will also win the crowd with proper beats galore. We can’t wait for his performance.

This years lineup celebrates their established heroes and icons as well as welcoming sensational newcomers and the best breaking acts from across the globe. Some of this year’s brand-new discoveries were, once again, chosen in co-operation with Popkomm and various export offices: besides the already confirmed showcases by Dry the River and Oh Land, Retro Stefson’s energetic performance will be an absolute highlight. Andrea Kellerman a.k.a. Firefox AK from Sweden will bring a bit of sweet Scandinavian melancholia to the airport. With Last Days of 1984 from Ireland, a mixture of noise rock and experimental, they are actually celebrating a little reunion at Berlin Festival. At their 2005 premiere, the duo’s predecessor band, were the first ones to perform.

Also confirmed are The Waters, the project of the Californian band Port O’Brien, Yuksek, who will be performing live, as well as Bag Raiders with one of their sets extraordinaire.

Due to Berlin Festival expanding with Club Xberg in 2011, they have a lot more space and time to not only give single acts a platform but to provide a stage for entire labels. At Club Xberg, the Swiss label Relish Recordings will be our guest with selected artists, as well as the UK label Greco Roman (boasting artists such as Hot Chip). All performing DJs and acts will be announced shortly.

The boys of G.I. Disco will also be present at Club Xberg with their very own special show, reviving the 80s at American Forces Network. Berlin Festival wouldn’t be the same without the Berlin Battery Crew’s escapades. Shir Khan, DJ Supermarkt, Jack Tennis and others will take over Club Xberg until the wee hours. Last but not least, Berlin’s DJ posse Remmidemmi is confirmed for 2011.

Today, we can also give you the first details about the Berlin Music Week Clubnacht. More than 40 clubs will give free entry to Berlin Music Week Ticket holders to bring you the internationally renowned club scene of Berlin. Amongst the participating clubs are Fritzclub im Postbahnhof, Icon, Tresor, Astra Kulturhaus, Asphalt Club, Grüner Salon, King Kong Klub, Rosi's, SchwuZ, Columbiaclub, frannz, Brunnen 70, HBC, Lovelite, Matrix, White Trash, Monster Ronson’s, Alte Malzfabrik, Kiki Blofeld, Silver Wings Club, Soda Club, Sophienclub, Yaam, Goya, the cult party series "Russendisko" at Kaffee Burger as well as Rock AG at Lido on Friday. Alex’s productions enjoy a solid reputation, and it was no surprise to see him being positioned in Resident Advisor's "Top 20 Charted Artists" ahead of DJ's such as Loco Dice, Joris Voorn or Ben Klock. Alex Niggemann launched his Soulfooled label together with Marc Poppcke and Oliver Fritsche from Superlounge in spring. Now we are topping it all with this week’s act announcements: Beginner, Germany’s most influential hip hop group, will be performing their exclusive reunion on the Berlin Festival airfield after having gone on hiatus in 2004. You’re about to witness something historical here when DJ Mad, Denyo and Eizi Eiz (also known under the name Jan Delay) conquer the stage to perform one of their smashing live shows. This should definitely not be missed.

Warp Records send another exclusive show our way. The UK label sends over techno grandmaster Mark Bell a.k.a. LFO, who will be performing his only Germany gig at Tempelhof Airport this year. Shooting star James Blake will be launching the festival on Friday after his previously sold out Berghain show. We’re also very excited to welcome Boys Noize to the 2011 line-up. His smashing headline show was one of last year’s definite highlights.

Casper, the new star on the horizon of German hip hop, makes indie kids as well as hip hop lovers jump for joy. With The Black Angels from Austin, Texas, we have psychedelic rock on board. The elfish Oh Land arrives from Denmark to enchant us with playful melodies. Gentle folk melancholia and guitar sound walls are Dry the River’s forte, while highly praised Florrie presents us with sixties reminiscences in pop beat guise.

We’ll also indulge in the sweet sound of silence once more: the Silent Disco Noize will be part of this year’s Tempelhof set-up, bringing you all your favourite smash hits via headphones. Berlin Festival’s traditional art exhibition, the Hangar Art Trail, is also taking shape as well. Further info about all participating artists will be announced soon.

However, we have to wait another three months until the festival takes off at Tempelhof Airport and Arena Berlin on 9th and 10th September. So why not start a little early? With Club Berlin, Berlin Festival’s official party series, will launch Berlin Festival season on 24th June at Berlin’s new club WHAT?! at Alexanderplatz, Berlin. The whole Berlin Festival family will be there! Peaches & Sheila Chipperfield will DJ together, the entire Berlin Battery Crew is on location as well as Cocolores, their homies from Munich. Defected announces an additional summer residency at what’s already described as ‘the world’s finest music / beach hotel destination’, Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel, to compliment its weekly Saturday nights at the world’s finest nightclub, Pacha Ibiza.

Every Saturday this new outdoor party commences at 5pm and runs until midnight from 25th June to 24th Sept, before doors open at Pacha.

“Ushuaia is the shot in the arm for Ibiza”, says Simon Dunmore, Defected Records label founder. “The island has badly missed an outdoor clubbing arena and the Cadenza Opening Party was a return to the early days of the Space Terrace, even Ku. Great music, sunshine and smiling faces were in abundance and if we can even get close to that, Saturday pre-parties take on a whole new meaning. We are proud to be part of it”.

For the best part of a decade Defected In The House has been one of the most prominent club nights on the island. This strength is attributed to Defected’s consistent label output and the widely-recognised reputation of its DJs who have consistently delivered quality house music each and every week with Resident Advisor recently confirming that Defected In The House is “…one of the only places on the island to hear true house music regularly with a dubby and techy edge to it”.

The pool party line up will compliment the confirmed dates at Pacha and long standing pre-party sunset sessions at Café Mambo. It will feature the full Defected international DJ roster including Bob Sinclar, Junior Jack and Kid Crème, Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, Sandy Rivera and Simon Dunmore with Sam Divine as the weekly resident.

Ushuaia began life as a beautiful beach bar on Playa D’en Bossa, throwing the best underground parties over the last few years. It has now been transformed (thanks to a 22million Euro investment) into what’s now described by Pacha magazine as “the ultimate expression of a growing Ibiza concept: the hotel that is driven by music.” As well as the breathtaking five-star luxury, this new, state-of-the-art hotel, is distinguished not only by its superb sushi restaurants, fashion shops, a cutting edge recording studio plus a range of swim up suites and aquatic bars; the most remarkable developments have been made to the main party arena, which is now based around a huge swimming pool in the centre of the complex with space for 5,000 to dance. A giant wooden framed stage hosting a raised DJ booth looking outwards to the Mediterranean has become the beating heart of the entire venue and it’s like nothing else in Ibiza.

There are very few artists who have made as much impact in such a short space of time as Maya Jane Coles and whilst Circus for the summer takes a hiatus from its spiritual home, The Masque, there’s a sizzling session taking place at The Shipping Forecast on Saturday July 30th to abate any sense of longing for a superlative slice of nocturnal revelry.

Taking in the intimate environ of the Funktion-One powered Hold, this special one-off party sees super starlet Maya Jane Coles making her Circus debut, with the club’s architect Yousef and resident spinner Lewis Boardman in attendance too. July sees Maya continuing her extremely busy schedule, appearing at EXIT Festival, Berlin's Panorama Bar, London's Ministry Of Sound, Space Ibiza and Global Gathering Festival as well as trips to Belfast and Croatia.

This year sees the festival going Back to Our Roots - which takes place across one joyously long weekend, a full seven days and nights of beatific beats in the sun and late night excursions on the stunning site which juts into the invitingly azure Adriatic waters. Set in the 900-year old fishing village of Petrcane, there are bars and restaurants along the promenade offering fine fresh fish caught that morning. Lazing the hours away beneath the sun whilst sipping a cocktail is the only way to start the day; later, as the music tempo increases, perhaps catch the sunset at the Tiki Bar whilst dancing in the water, or maybe it’s one of the live headliners on the fully outdoor main stage.

One of house music’s truly original innovators, Larry Heard, makes his debut at the Garden Festival in July. With a rich history stretching back to the mid-1980s, Larry - aka Mr. Fingers – continues a prodigious output of music and sets across the world, having worked with everyone from Robert Owens – who also sings live and DJs at this year’s Garden Festival - to producing his own iconic track, Can You Feel It. Also making their debut performance at The Garden Festival is Canadian techno luminaries Art Department, Bostonian duo Soul Clap and close friends Wolf & Lamb, the hotly-tipped Tiger and Woods and Germany’s Motor City Drum Ensemble.

The Garden also welcomes back many more old friends to the fore once more; Hamburg’s deep disco sensation Tensnake returns to the Garden for his second year, fresh from an amazing 2010 which was his Coma Cat one of the tunes of the summer; Sir Norman Jay is back after 2010’s simply outrageously good boat party, which Norman himself said was the best one he had ever played at; almost annual resident Greg Wilson bring his famed reel to reel sounds to the sun-kissed peninsular; for anyone wanting a lesson in disco and house, Greg’s Radio 1 Essential Mix is it; Crazy P are also back; Future Disco, one of 2010’s success stories, returns to Croatia, as do Mark E, Dolan Bergin and PBR Streetgang.

A new live addition to the Garden are No Regular Play, aka USA duo Nicholas DeBruyn and Greg Paulus. Their close relationship with Wolf and Lamb has created a captivating sound (they have been releasing on the W+P label too), stylistically touching on a wide range of influences focused around live instrumentation also used in their sets. Such is their range they have been working on a 25 minute piece for improvisation/ electronics music to be performed with the Minnesota Orchestra in 2011! These guys are not to be missed.

Mark Caramelli and Paul Hargreaves have been causing a huge stir under their guise, Death On The Balcony; their unique style fuses a range of influences from Nu Disco, House to Deep Techno and everything in-between. Expect sublime sounds too from Falling Up, who source original soul 7”s, undiscovered funk gems, deep 80s boogie, dutty disco, classic and future hip-hop, broken beat, afro-centric sounds, real house, techno and Detroitisms and forward thinking bass music into their genre-spanning sets. Germany's Gerd Janson brings his deep house and disco sounds to Petrcane too; he's one of the country's hottest DJs, as well as writing about music and working with the Redbull Music Academy too.

There’s also anything goes legend DJ Lenny and Hungarian nu-disco star Holic features too; Katie Barker of Ladybugz brings her soul, disco, funk and house, Leeds promoters Louche and inspired due The Groovers all play too, further swelling the ranks of this summer’s Garden Festival fun.

And don’t forget the Breakfast Boat which leaves 10am on Sunday 10th July. This will be the most chilled Argonaughty voyage of them all with The Phenomenal Handclap Band at the helm DJing with expresso martinis, fresh fruit, croissants and blissed out tunes helping to get the day started.

From the 12th of July until the 13th of September, DJ/producer Ferry Corsten will hold a weekly residency in the brand new club Sankeys on Ibiza. Every Tuesday he will host the innovative and spectacular event ‘Full on Ferry; Ibiza’. The event is very similar to the previous ‘Full on Ferry’ events that Ferry hosted for three years in a row in a sold out Ahoy in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. These exhilarating and major successful editions have given the event the global reputation of being one of the most ground breaking and definite must-see events in the dance-scene.

Full on Ferry is an event where the various musical facets of Ferry Corsten can be expressed. It is also a festive reunion of his fellow DJ’s and producers. At ‘Full on Ferry; Ibiza’ Ferry will invite various artists that he admires and respects and/or have influenced his music. With a weekly varying line-up, the artists will play back-2-back sets with Ferry in the mainroom and in another area of the intimate club setting of Sankeys, the audience can treat themselves to various extended dj sets. Aside from the communicated line-up, fans will also be treated to surprise acts! So you never really know what you’re going to get.

Every week Ferry will be accompanied by some of today’s best, most in demand international DJs and acts as his special guests, no other than hand-picked by himself, to rock the dance floors at Sankeys together. Monaco International Clubbing Show (MICS) is the first international gathering of nightlife industry which takes place each year in November in the Principality of Monaco. For the purpose of being present throughout the whole year MICS is organizing numerous promotional parties in various venues worldwide. Owing to the World Tour MICS has demonstrated its determination and fortitude and received international recognition.

Various exhibitors have already confirmed their presence for the upcoming edition: prominent beverage brands, innovative sound and lighting brands, as well as fashion designers along with Fashion Gallery and Fashion Show. For this year, the technical area (sound and lighting) will be at the forefront and will put on more demonstrations. Nighttime Program: in 2010 DJ Festival welcomed such international artists as Bob Sinclair, Boys Noize, Joachim Garaud, Avicii... the line-up for this year will be unveiled during the month of July. The MICS World Tour 2011
In 2011, MICS has started the World Tour with its trademark theme party “I Love Monaco” @ Sky Bar in London accompanied by the official DJs of MWT Edmond EISENBERG & TVK. At the Winter Music Conference in Miami MICS organized a huge Pool Party in the Shore Club at Miami Beach. In late March MICS was back to London and organized another remarkable party in a fashionable club named Whisky Mist in Park Lane.

Following the parties in Miami and London the MICS team came back to Monaco for it's F1 Terrace Party during the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Already for the second year, MICS, sponsored by Monster Energy Drink, is organizing private lounge party on the roof of a towering building on the right-hand side of the Port with live music of the DJs Sacha and Vincent from the Garden Brothers, buffet and an astonishing view of the city.

For this occasion MICS invited its partners, clients and media to attend the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Among those present at the party were Mixed APE, Legend of Kremlin, Sobacco, Rebootizer, Carlsberg, Luxor, Fashion TV, Soonnight, Monaco Matin and also the Moon One TV. The Grand Prix of Monaco is a unique occasion for MICS to position itself as a high-end event in a luxurious environment.

Burn studios announces pan-European producer contest with Sasha and Beatport
This summer burn studios will team up with legendary DJ and producer Sasha and electronic music portal Beatport to search for the most exiting and promising music producers from across Europe. Fourteen promising electronic music stars of the future will win the chance to take part in an exclusive production bootcamp at the burn studios Hacienda in Ibiza.

Now we can finally give you some more details: besides fantastic additions to our bill, we can announce further ticket categories for Berlin Festival, Club Xberg and Berlin Music Week Clubnacht. Festival visitors will also get the chance to win two VIP tickets for Reading Festival.

Where to start? Well, we’re really happy to confirm Aloe Blacc, who skilfully combines Motown feeling galore with socio-critical subtext. The Rapture is also billed this year. The New York combo releases its new album, In the Grace of Your Love, in September, which, according to frontman Luke Jenner, is musically taking up where the extraordinary album Echoes left off.

We’re also very excited to have Turbo Recordings’ Gesaffelstein with us, who will perform live at Club Xberg. Synth-laden guitar sounds are in the mix as well. While the Brazilian CSS boast some proper punk attitude, The Naked And Famous from New Zealand are more about epic and experimental soundscapes. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, who are right on time for Berlin Festival with their new album Hysterical, will certainly cause a stir among indie lovers. Also new to the bill: Tune-Yards, who musically sways between folk influences, pop nuances, homemade beats and R’n’B rhythms, newcomer Austra, who arrives from the darker recesses of the electro cosmos to give an atmospheric live performance, as well as Alex Winston and Housse de Racket.

Today, we can also shed some light on our various ticket categories. We already announced the Berlin Music Week Ticket for EUR 89 (incl. Berlin Festival, Club Xberg, Berlin Music Week Clubnacht, and public transport on the 9th and 10th of September). Now festivalgoers have the choice between three more categories:

With the Berlin Festival 2-day ticket for EUR 74, visitors not only get entry to Tempelhof Airport on 9th AND 10th September until midnight. Entrance to over 30 clubs of Berlin Music Week Clubnacht is also included in the price as well as a 2-day BVG ticket (public transport).

The Berlin Festival day ticket for EUR 44 (public transport included) gives everyone access to Tempelhof Airport on the 9th OR the 10th of September until midnight. In order to make it easier to decide, all acts are divided by day and venue below.

For all the nocturnal party people, we also have the limited Club Xberg day ticket for EUR 24 on offer. With this particular ticket, clubbers have access to Arena Berlin’s various venues such as Arena Club, Glashaus, Badeshiff, Hoppetosse and others on the 9th OR the 10th of September.

The ‘Secret Artist’ placeholder on the Movement Electronic Music Festival schedule was announced via the festival’s official Facebook page at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The post said: “Ricardo Villalobos is the ‘Secret Artist.’ He WILL be in Detroit to perform at MOVEMENT May 29th and at the Voyage Royale: I’m on a Boat 3 afterparty. Check www.Movement.us for more info.”

Villalobos, a world-renowned microhouse and minimal techno DJ/producer, last performed in Detroit in 2002 when he played live at Paxahau Electronic Music Festival (PEMF), a four-day party that was held at the former Panacea Nightclub in downtown Detroit.

Paxahau originally released the Artist Set Schedule on May 12, but in the Sunday, May 29 Vitamin Water stage slot inserted ‘Secret Artist’ as a placeholder, which created a lot of buzz and speculation in social media spaces since then—and is the reason festival organizers decided to release Villalobos’ scheduled performances via the festival’s official Facebook page.

Movement Electronic Music Festival attendees will be able to take a break from the beats pulsating throughout Hart Plaza May 28-30 to explore the landmarks of Detroit Techno with bike tours provided by Wheelhouse Detroit.

Wheelhouse Detroit, located on E. Atwater Street along the Detroit River, will guide the two Techno-themed bike tours they have dubbed “Techno in the 313.”

“This tour will bring the beats that electrify Detroit to life,” states Kelli Kavanaugh, co-owner of Wheelhouse Detroit, “Many tourists find bikes to be the most convenient way to get around Detroit and Movement weekend in particular lends itself well to bike transportation.”

The first tour will be on Sunday, May 29 from noon to 4 p.m. It will be the “long” tour that will go for as many as 21 miles taking riders past historic electronic music sites like The Music Institute, Underground Resistance HQ, and the Packard Plant. The tour price is 30 USD; with bike rental it's 40 USD. This “long” tour is recommended for more experienced riders.

Starting for the 10th time in England's capital, we will be hosting the most extravagant Gumball event in our 12 year history. We will register each driver on the 25th before they attend the VIP launch party. The next morning on the 26th is when their adventure will truly begin!

Last week the trustees of Mansion House, Biggleswade decided they did not want the event to take place on their site, despite contracts being signed off. Luckily Lord Cholmondeley who owns the estate at Houghton Hall and the surrounding estate has welcomed Glade and this is where the event will take place in 2011 and for the foreseeable future.

Glade organiser Anselm Guise had this to say about the situation:
“Last week I got back to work having taken some time off to get married the weekend before, to find that the proverbial had hit the fan. We lost our site last week. The trustees at the Mansion House decided that they didn’t want the event after all, despite contracts signed and deposits paid. The new Glade team decided not to tell me so that it wouldn’t ruin my big day and what they have done, amazingly, is manage to miraculously find another venue.

The new site, whilst being a bit further away from London, is by far superior. It is set in beautiful, privately owned 5,000 acre Estate which set in beautiful parkland laid out in the 1720’s. It is also on sand, meaning excellent drainage, so we won’t be having a repeat of the floods of 2009, regardless of the weather.”

Lord Cholmondeley, who owns Houghton Hall, added:
“We are delighted to be hosting The Glade Festival at Houghton Hall this summer. This is a new event for Houghton but something that we think will work well in the beautiful and historic Park. We welcome the new management team, who come highly recommended, we know are renowned in the industry and have an outstanding portfolio of events. We are excited to see what they do with The Glade, and look forward to working with them.”

Houghton Hall is situated just outside King’s Lynn where the nearest station is. There will be shuttle busses running between the site and the Hall.

Their position and colour is individually computer-controlled – creating an intense and entrancing effect on you all once the phase transition is underway! The `laser dance` is also known to cause endogenous hyper-emotional ebullition from participants – a side effect that has not yet been fully researched!

The Time Machine
Play video games, trigger drum machines with your feet and manipulate projected visuals as you dance to DJs. Flying forwards and backwards through time has never been more fun…

Adult Deposit Scheme
Glade Festival 2011 will be operating a deposit scheme. The deposit scheme will allow you spread the payment of the ticket(s) over 2 instalments; the deadline for payment is the 15th of April 2011. The payment link will be in the confirmation email of the deposit order. All Glade Festival deposits are non-refundable; if you place a deposit and do not pay the balance of the order you will not get a refund.

Disability Information
Disabled attendees have to buy a festival ticket to gain entry. Carers, who attend with a disabled person, have the opportunity to get a ticket at 50% of the full ticket price, at the Box Office on site, on presentation of a valid Disability Card. (no card - no discount).

Age Information
Under 12s are allowed into the festival for free. However Glade Festival will not allow anyone between the ages of 13 and 17 years into the festival. ID will requested if you look under 18.

Dubspot is pleased to announce that Chicago’s Kate Simko (Ghostly, Spectral, Eklo, Hello? Repeat) will be joining them in their New York City classroom this Monday, May 16th for a workshop on her creative workflow, scoring for film using Logic, and using Max MSP to sync video to an Ableton Live performance.

For those in NYC who would like to attend, limited spots are available by RSVP on the Facebook event page. Anyone who can’t attend in person can watch the workshop live via Dubspot Ustream - May 16 at 7:30pm EDT.

Dubspot has found great success recently with their Mary Anne Hobbs and Soul Clap live streaming workshops, and are incredibly excited to welcome Kate for this next edition.

About Kate Simko
Although her music tends to appear on hip techno labels like Spectral and Hello? Repeat, Kate Simko’s music blurs the lines between techno, house, IDM and soundtrack scores to create soulful moments for different settings. From her work scoring the PBS documentary The Atom Smashers, to her melodic tech/house singles such as “Mind on You,” Simko always brings a fresh take on composition that combines a soulful approach to songwriting with modern drum programming for the dance floor.

On May 23rd, Kate Simko will release Lights Out, her first full-length solo release, on Hello? Repeat records. The album is an amalgam of house music, techno sounding percussion, funky bass lines, and soulful vocals – proper dance floor material.
