The website started out as Megamind.dk but after a year it changed it's name to Megamind.se and then 7 years later it change to it's current home as MegamindMagazine.com in order to branch out and becoming a more international site solely focusing on DJ Culture and Music, especially Electronic Dance Music (EDM).

Now 8+ years later and having outlived most other websites started around the same time. Megamind is considered to be a stable and well looked after cornerstone of the industry. After a bit of a hiatus and remodelling we now can present the new and fairly improved Event & Festival guides that has been a part of the website since it's start in 2002. This time we have added many features and making it available to share events and festivals to your favourite website or medium.

So what has changed in Events?
Countries
The original Event archive was only showing events in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. The new Event archive shows events in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Poland, United Kingdom, France, Czech Republic, Ireland, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Spain and Portugal as well as Boat Cruises (Country Independent).

Adding Countries
New is also that we will gradually expand the Event archive to any country in the world that wants to be added, making it a worldwide Event Archive. If your country is missing from the start, just email us and we will add it within 24-48 hours.

New & Old events
New is also that you can take a look at both upcoming and old events that we have in the database, we have around 5000 events in all.

Some may have noticed that we are changing a few things on the website from time to time, but we do it only to improve it. Recently we have changed the way both Mixes and DJ Charts are presented and also the layout of Interviews, but the biggest change we've done is to remove the affiliation of artists in the title and instead add them as Tags.

For those who have been following us over the years may also noticed other changes, since we love progress, but now we are satisfied with most parts of the website. Now it's all about refining those bits that we really think could be even better.

This is the newest feature on the website, since we moved from our old domain to the new one. The buttons are provided by Addthis and we love them and we've noticed that we aren't the only ones. Keep on sharing!

The Facebook Like button
We've been testing it and removed it and tested it again, but it will not work as we've hoped it would. So, as soon as we figure out a way to make it work in the way we want to, it will not be available on the website. However, one can always use the "Share button" and select "Facebook" to share to Facebook.

Twitter and Facebook
If you want to hang out with us at Megamind Magazine and get all the news as soon as it's published or just like what we do then there is always our presence at Twitter and Facebook. We love all who follow us and all those who don't, but it's easier to interact with those who do. Megamind Magazine welcomes Jeffrey Nolet as a part of the very international editorial team. Jeffrey is the first one added to the editorial team, since the start in June/July 2002, and will be doing mostly interviews with DJs and Artists here at Megamind Magazine, but also the occasional news editing.

As Jeffrey is "the new guy", we decided to put him under the interview microscope and answer some questions and this is what he had to say.

Tell us, who is Jeffrey Nolet, we are all dying to know!
I am a 20 year old who currently lives in Canada. I was born in Zimbabwe! Ever since a young age I have always been really curious to find out more about people and there background.
Everybody has a story, you just have to find it.

Do you ever sleep?
I wish I slept as much as I wanted to, sure I have my days where I sleep in, but there is so much to see and do in the world that makes me wish I didn't need to sleep!

Apart from not sleeping as much as you might have wanted, what are you going to help us at Megamind Magazine with?
One thing I would love to help out at Megamind Magazine is in interviews, show what artists are really like behind all the gossip and tabloids. I want to show that they are real people that had a dream, worked hard to get to where they are and show how they can be an inspiration to young artists!

As of this morning, we have decided that the Newsflash section of the site will merge with International News, since it's basically just the same thing. All previous posts in the Newsflash section have been moved to the International News section and all links out there points to the new home for the articles.

Why do we do this?
The main reason is to focus any news into one channel and section, instead of having 2 or 3 different sections doing basically the same thing. It's also a section that didn't get as much attention as we had hoped for, when we launched it last year.

Does this affect any links pointing to the section?

As of this afternoon, 7th February 2011, Megamind Magazine, has changed it's address and now resides on the new domain megamindmagazine.com instead of the old megamind.se.

After almost one week on continues work with refining and updating the site, we now can finally say that we are done with what we set out to do.

So, what is it that we've done, well there are many things, most noticeable is the URL's on the website that now have been change to be a more descriptive then the odd numbers, that we used to have. The RSS files have also been given a make-over and are now a little bit easier to share or subscribe to. We hope that everyone likes what has been done and continue to visit and enjoy the site.

We never really got along great with the "old" menu after the remake of the website, earlier this year. So we thought we should remake it (again) and add simplicity, as well as function, to it. After a small hiatus, in terms, of updates, we are now finally ready to release the new Megamind Magazine website. The new website is a bit different then the old one, but equally as fast, if not even faster.

Here are some of the changes made
- A new logotype and colour scheme
- A new layout with easier and faster navigation
- A new Contact Us page (never seen before on our website)
- A new Support News bulletin in the footer of the website (never seen before on our website)
- All news added to the website now appears on the index of the website (think blog)
- No more colour coded categories
- No more Clubbing & DJ Culture sections

From the 1st of September 2010 we will close the following section of the website for good: Event Calendar (4301 events), Festival Calendar (100 festivals), Tours (1 tour), Swedish News (99 pages), Danish News (11 pages), Norwegian News (1 page), Finnish News (7 pages), Stammtisch (11 pages) and Megamind Shopping (1 page). All the pages will be available in International News as of the 30th August, we are already moving them, but the events and festivals will be removed from the website on the 1st September.

The first reason being is that sections themselves hasn't been maintained in the fashion we've hope that they would be from when we opened them up. The second reason is that we currently have too many sections on the website and the focus is so wide-spread that we do not have a good overview anymore. Time to refine and do it better.

Today, the 18th of August 2010, we launched a small piece of what will become a larger part of the new website that we are working on. The new website, which we hope will be released in late September or early October 2010, will be rather different then what we currently are having.

The new website will, besides a new design, also feature a few new things that we'll tell you all about later on. But, Newsflash is one of those things that are new and we have decided to release it now.

The idea behind Newsflash
The basic part of a newsflash amongst magazines are breaking news that is currently happening, sort of a live cast. So, we thought that we put our own spin on it and create a newsflash that delivers small, personal and sometimes gossip oriented news right on the front-page of our website. This is liven up a rather dull, news-wise, front-page that previously only displayed website oriented news.

As many of our visitors have seen over the past few weeks, that we have a little web toolbar from company called Wibiya. This toolbar has all the social media interfaces that one could ask for as well as other stuff.

Today we added a new application to our Wibiya toolbar that will automatically identify your social networks and will display them, allowing our users to choose which networks to connect to.

About the application
The Social Connect web app will make it very easy for our users to use their favorite social networks, connecting to multiple networks (such as facebook, Twitter and others) simultaneously.

Once connected, our users will be able to perform various actions directly from your site, without leaving the web page. The actions depend on the network of their choice, but include status updates in Facebook, adding friends, following and tweeting on twitter, updating MySpace and much more.

The great thing is that thanks to this social platform, users at our website will be able to update their status on multiple social networks simultaneously. The status includes the page title and an automatically shortened link too. After roughly 8 years as a website or blog it is now time to move on an also establish something new and just as exciting.

Megamind will as of today, the 19th of June 2010, change it's name to Megamind Magazine. The reason being that the website is turning more and more into a magazine rather then a web portal for music enthusiasts and DJ's.

Over the course of the summer of 2010 the website itself will get a facelift and also a new logo. All of which will be announced in late August 2010.

We are all familiar with various festival guides and with limited results we find what we are really looking for. We, here at Megamind, thought we had a good Festival Guide until we realized that we actually don't have a good festival guide. So we've rebuilt it and we looked at out Event Calendar for guidance and found what we have been lacking all along.

The new Megamind Festival Guide is built using the same mechanics as for the Event Calendar that we've all come to love over the years. We hope that we will be able to fill our Festival Guide with all those festivals, that we all love.

We like to integrate new things to our website and since we've already on Facebook with Megamind. So we decided that we should add a "Like" button to every page that we have here on our website. The Facebook integration is just one of many steps we are going to take.

This is a short description on how it works
- You visit a page, for an example, a biography
- You like the biography for some reason
- You see a "Like" button and click on it
- On your Facebook profile you will see it appear as follows: Megamind likes Spotify Tech-House Playlist on Megamind.

The voting has finally been counted and many new names have entered the list as well and Marcus Schossow becomes historic.

Marcus Schossow claims the title yet again and becomes historic by doing so, he is the only one who has kept the title from the previous year and also the second one to win the title more then once. Previously Orkidea have won the title 3 times, but never held the title the following year. The three time winner Orkidea stayed in 4th place this year, giving way for fellow countrymen, Maku L (Markus Lasanen) and Sasha F yet again. Today we are launching Tours as a part of giving more to touring DJ's all over the world. The idea behind tours is to bring the news from touring DJ's and Producers across the globe into one section and one category.

As the first step is being taken, we start of with a 3 month following of DJ Widenski from Estonia, who will be tour Asia, Australia and Europe starting New Years Eve back in Tallinn.

The Internet Explorer 6 browser was released back in 2001, and Internet Explorer 7, the replacement, was released nearly two years ago in 2006. Modern web browsers such as IE 8, Firefox 3.5, and Safari 4 provide significantly better online experiences. Since IE 6 usage has finally dipped below a small minority threshold of our guests, it's time to finally move beyond IE 6.

So, as of this morning, Megamind will not support Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) any more.

Why are we making this change?
IE 6 is a last-generation browser. This means that IE 6 can't provide the same web experience that modern browsers can. Continued support of IE 6 means that we can't optimize our interfaces or provide an enhanced guest experience on our website. Supporting IE 6 means slower progress, less progress, and, in some places, no progress. To celebrate all the good music out there on Spotify, we have launched a Collaborative Playlist for Electronic Dance Music only. The playlist is held by us, but all basically anyone can add their favourite Electronic Dance Music tracks into the playlist. The aim is to gather as much Electronic Dance Music as possible in one single playlist.

Earlier today it was announced that the Spotify App. had been approved by Apple and now available for download into any iPhone, iPod Touch and Android platform based mobile devices.

What does this have to do with Megamind ?
This means that all Megamind Playlists will be available in your cellphone or mobile devices. So if you have an iPhone, iPod Touch or a Android driven mobile device, you can basically listen to our playlists anywhere, all that is required is a Premium Spotify account and the App from Spotify.

As of today, there will be no more adding of events into the Events Calendar, due to updates and improvements. We hopefully will be able to finish work with a week or two. In the meantime you can view all added events.

RATING
Rating (members only) has been disabled until further notice.

FASTER BROWSING
Our new cache system allows you to browse the site even faster then before and even more performance is coming later on.

BETTER SEARCH
The new search allows everyone to search even more specific and find exactly what you are looking for. Within a few weeks Spotify will launch the Spotify iPhone Application. This means that all the Megamind Playlists will be available to all Spotify users using Premium and have a iPhone. The application will only work with a Premium subscription, but we think that soon it will be working with a standard Free subscription.

Today we added some more information about our various Spotify Playlists that we currently host. For those unsure which, if not all, playlists to add to their Spotify client, we have added a small sample of artists found within the playlist.

Coming up next week (29) will be a Ambient Playlist as well, for those loving a slower and more serene sound. We have gathered around 6 hours, as of today, but we will be at least 10-15 hours before launch.

On Sunday the 28th of June we will launch four Spotify Playlists on our website. They will be a general look into Techno, House, Trance and Tech-House and as always, completely free of charge ! In the future we hope that we can provide even more nice features linked to Spotify.

We will also create a section on the website for all users to add their own Spotify Playlist and share it with all users and visitors on the website. A sort of publicly available archive of Spotify Playlists.

Today we added another feature to our little website. This time it is yet another tool for DJ's, Artists and Producers to spread their DJ Mixes to a wider audience.

Today we proudly announce our newest feature on the Megamind website and it's the very useful and versatile Tag System we've talked about before.

The Tags System is a advanced version of a simple Tag Cloud that is very common on Blogs and especially on Wordpress blogging software. However, this is something similar, but yet so very different.

On every page that is on-line on this website there is something we call "See Also This" which is a system of tagging/adding keywords that is used to link two different pages together through a common keyword. Our "See Also This" and our new Tags System uses the same keywords and it enables the user to either search on a keyword in our regular search or click on a keyword in the Tag Cloud and go straight to the results, where the specific Keyword is displayed along with other keywords that a specific page has. Sounds a little bit complex ? It is, but very useful.

All our members can add keywords to all pages & forum topics that they, themselves, create.

We had to change the URL pointers today to our other server due to a miscommunication between our service provider and us here at Megamind. We weren't going to show you the new website until Tuesday the 14th of April, but it happened already today, the 13th of April.

We will move back to the Megamind server on the 26th of April due to server upgrades that are required for us to run the new website on that server. We were told that these changes would have been completed today, but it wasn't until the 25th they really were to be finished. Sorry everyone !

Yes, you read it correctly and yes, we are rebuilding the whole website. Within a few days we will reveal the new website packed with so much new features that it's scary !

We've added these features to the new website :

The voting has finally been counted and many new names have entered the list as well and a big upset in the top 10 this year.

The biggest climber is the winner of the overall title, Marcus Schossow who previous years managed the top 50 at best, but this year he is the overall winner of the title : Most Popular Nordic DJ 2008. He is also the first Swedish DJ to win the title, which has been dominated by Finland's DJ Orkidea the past few years.

The three time winner Orkidea moved down to 4th place this year, giving way for fellow countrymen, Maku L (Markus Lasanen) and Sasha F. Another big drop in the standings is Tim Andresen who was 5th last year, but this year only 69th. A big drop for the former winner from Denmark.

Eric Prydz enters the Top 10 for the first time ever in the election and many others fail to enter the top 100. Short biography:
My brother and close friends got me into music at a young age. I loved the fact that you could just dance to the music and not care what others thought. It was the feeling of freedom, which I loved. As I became older I wanted to know more about DJ's and producing music. I didn't want to become one myself, but I wanted to learn all about them.

I wanted to know what the artist was like before a show, after the show, what they are like when they are in the studio. My curiosity drove me further and further. I've learned that there is much more than an artist on stage mixing tracks, and being famous. It has become a passion for me.
